The Million Paws Walk is a national activity day by the Australian Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) in May.
This is an event where dog owners take their animals walking on designated routes in various cities and towns with the aim of getting 250,000 or more animals nationally (hence “a million paws”). Owners pay a small contribution that goes to the running of local RSPCA animal shelters.
The RSPCA arranges for water troughs and ‘poo’ disposal bins at various places around the course.
Our brief by the client was to create a relaxed dog-friendly area for RSPCA members and selected guests – “A day on The Green” to enjoy the open, outdoor space with their dogs.
The installation and setup included a large 10 x 18m marquee structure with an outdoor, relaxed seating area enclosed with a white picket fence.
When asked our favourite element of this event, Jillian Hart, owner of Show Pony Events said; “We loved the greenery added to the roof in the main marquee along with other textures added to the space making this an eye-catching feature when you first walked in. We also provided large picnic blankets which were a real hit with the local patrons, allowing family, friends and puppies to sit and stay a while at Patrick White Lawns”.
Being our first time participating in Million Paws, the organisers were thrilled with the end product and received wonderful feedback from the Board and from those members who utilised the space on the day. So much so that they rebooked us on the spot for next year’s event.
